Longvida® Optimized Curcumin: developed in collaboration with UCLA neuroscientists, delivers unglucuronidated (free) curcumin to the brain and throughout the entire body at levels 95 times greater than standard curcumin, by using a patented lipid delivery technology. Placebo-controlled studies have shown that Longvida® Optimized Curcumin improves working memory 25%, reduces fatigue 15%, increases plasma catalase 75% supporting antioxidant activity against oxidative stress, and improves cognitive function and mood in as little as 1hr (using a 400mg once daily dose). PMC6579386, PMID32512782.
Ashwagandha Root Extract: is a well-known adaptogen that supports the body’s healthy response to stress. It promotes overall calm and mental focus, and has been associated with improved memory and attention. Ashwagandha Root Extract appears to significantly reduce the symptoms of stress, fatigue and temporary cognitive impairment, as well as many biomarkers related to stress. One example is cortisol. Ashwagandha Root Extract has been shown to reduce cortisol by 14-28% in many placebo-controlled studies. PMID23439798, PMID19789214, PMID30854916.
Chronic high cortisol has been shown to cause functional atrophy of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, and damage parts of the brain that regulate memory and emotions.
Red Panax Ginseng: is another potent adaptogen, and is often referred to as the “True Ginseng”. It has been shown to improve mood, and increase immunity and cognition. Panax ginseng contains naturally occurring ginsenosides. Ginsenosides are neuroprotective agents, and exhibit antitumor, anti-inflammatory, antioxidation, and inhibition of cell apoptosis properties. Ginsenosides have been shown to support overall wellbeing, and improve focus and memory. Panax ginseng also promotes the release of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide improves blood flow to the brain by opening blood vessels. PMID11895046, PMID15982990, PMID20737519, PMID16401645.
Rhodiola Rosea: is one of the most studied and potent adaptogens. Placebo-controlled studies have shown that Rhodiola Rosea supports wellbeing and positive mood, improves mental performance, fights fatigue, increases daytime energy and promotes restful sleep. Many of the benefits of Rhodiola Rosea are gained from a lower dose, such as the dose of Rhodiola Rosea in one serve of BrainFirst® PRIME, over prolonged periods of time. Rhodiola Rosea has also been shown to reduce the inflammatory marker C-reactive protein, when used at higher doses over a shorter period of time (eg. 300mg per day for one week). PMID11081987, PMID15514725, PMID24055627, PMID24503750, PMID10839209.
Ginkgo Biloba: is well-known for it’s cognitive enhancement and neuroprotective properties. Ginkgo promotes healthy blood flow, via nitric oxide metabolism, which is critical for optimal brain function. Cognitive impairment also appears to be significantly reduced with Ginkgo Biloba use. Furthermore, Ginkgo Biloba has been shown to alleviate cognitive decline. PMID2044394, PMID10890330, PMID21802920.
